Just a word of counsel , we are each different and what's good for you may not be good for another.

About 2 years post stroke , I tried alcohol . It fucked my balance so much I ended up an A@E on 3 separate occasions .

I was so upset I had lost going out with my wife and mates to the pub and having a laugh and talking shite . I longed for this source of enjoyment to be as it was before June 2017.

It may have taken till 2022 , but it is fantastic .

Today i have played at one of the least enjoyable gigs I have ever had the misfortune to be part of. The whole thing was a catalogue of disasters. I am hoping that a good night's sleep makes me feel better .

Today's embarrassing disaster is tomorrow's amusing anecdote.

Easy to say, I know, but shit happens, mate. Far better (and far more famous) musicians than you and I have got worse gigs in their storybooks.

If you haven't had things go pear shaped you aren't trying hard enough.

Wedding in Teeside (Great Ayton) last weekend. Crowd were very young and appreciative- there weren't that many of them but they were all dancing from the second song (after the first dance ofc). We played really well and even wig wam bam went down a storm

If they're dancing, you're laughing.

A couple of months ago I played an online version of that - when I offered my thoughts on Harbeth speakers on a certain forum

Last night's wedding gig was in The Merchant Taylors Hall in York. Short drive for me and it eas race day but fortunately I got there just before the last race finished and missed the traffic.

An unusual gig due to the fact that there is very strict noise level limiting which cuts the power if you exceed the threshold. It is quite distracting as you end up watching the traffic light warning system all night. It turns out that nobody had turned it on and there was nobody there who knew how to do it.

It was however too late and I had already taken the precaution of taking my son's electronic kit. Merchant Taylors Hall is right next to the city walls near Monk Bar and surrounded closely by houing. Due to this we kept things quiet.

The gig went well although I had to adapt my drumming parts to hide the inadequacies of the cheap Alesis nitro drum kit. The crowd were very good and did much dancing. They specially requested Sweet Caroline which went down a storm but wouldn't have been on any of the band member's home playlist. We were fed and watered and I consumed quite a few cups of tea. Home by midnight , bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes then bed. Job done.
