That is a whole subject all on its own. Keyboard warriors who wouldn't say boo to a goose in front of a total stranger in the pub, butting into online conversations, frothing, fulminating and effin' & blindin' about subjects they know nothing about, care nothing about, and can do nothing about, but think they have a God-given right to pontificate about. :angry-soapbox:

For what's it's worth, if that had been me I would have had the decency to express my opinion via a private message and not trash the design publicly - to my way of thinking that's poor form and I would have had strong words with the chap

It's funny, I looked at this thread just after seeing the new integrated with its added graphics. I do agree that having had help from you does make a difference and he could have explained what he didn't like and why in a less abrupt way. Personally, now the very minimalist graphics have been added, I'm not sure why the 'pointers' are on the knobs now as they don't appear to have anything to point at. Not a problem with the volume but maybe the selector?

One take-away from my years as a field based IT professional is that you can walk away from a job thinking that you've done it really well, as well as or better than anyone else could have done it and the feedback from the site contact is that they are not happy.
And you can walk away thinking you made an embarrassing pig's ear of a job and the site contact is delighted and gushing in praise for you.

There's a significant amount of randomness when it comes to customer feedback.
One of the key random factors in the field of IT services, is what sort of onsite engineers they've had before. If they've been the lazy / selfish / unprofessional type, it's easy to go in and get great feedback.

Something else I found was that there would be certain clients that other members of the team would describe as being difficult / awkward / battle-axe / nightmare people to deal with. And then I'd turn up and get on fine with them. Whenever I tried to figure why this was I never came up with a simple definitive answer. I could only speculate as to it being a combination of factors.
