Christ on a bike. It's definitely pantomime season.

This country is the laughing stock of the whole world. Mmmmmm. World beating indeed. It's about time we forgot about imperialism and the power we used to have in the world and recognise we are a sad little island nation in decline and slowly being devoured by fascism.

The two party system is partly to blame; outlier views are absorbed into the so-called 'broad church' of the party rather than set adrift. Once that happens, extremists join the party and the median point of the party is dragged towards those more extreme views, but half of the party is alienated. Then you end up with what the Tories have now; civil war.

With PR, it is more likely that centre left and centre right parties will find a way to form a coalition, naturally marginalising more extreme views.

We have the opposite problem in The Netherlands, more than 20 parties in parliament. Meaning that all governments are coalitions and everything has to be achieved by compromise and manoeuvring. Direct decisions are few and far-between.

Swings and roundabouts. Nothing's perfect.

It's just too crazy to be believable, but given that the Tories are a special subset of humanity that believe in unicorn shit, it's
not an entirely implausible outcome.

Lets face it, what is the burning imperative for a Tory MP?

It's re-election so they can keep their bovine snouts firmly in the trough. So if 'The Johnson' promises to deliver them another election victory I suspect the little Tory Piggies are just desperate enough to jump that way.

To put it another way - Ho Hum!

We need proportional representation to put an end to extremism. The thought of a law breaking liar coming back scares me. It is a very scary situation and we are a laughing stock in the eyes of the world. I just wish there was something in the constitution which would force a general election in circumstances like this. We are no longer a democracy.
