I played with a Wing back in May, a brilliant concept and very easy to use, six band parametric EQ, all stereo, massively extendable and really easy to use. The SQ isn’t actually that well arranged, I looked at one after a friend’s wedding in July, I thought it was untidy. My choice would be the Wing but as I have had a chance to use one I might be biased. The guy who installed it seemed happy enough with what he heard. He had some good ideas about in ear monitoring too.slinger wrote: ↑Sat Oct 22, 2022 10:14 pmThe A&H looks far more traditional (I'm assuming you're looking at the SQ-6?), but I really like the layout of the Wing. It's got a bigger screen too, which might give it an advantage. The prices are around the same, so I'd plump for the Wing, although it might take longer to "learn" than a more familiar layout.Geoff.R.G wrote: ↑Sat Oct 22, 2022 7:31 pmWhat I would like to buy is a Behringer Wing but I have to convince the rest of the team that it is better than an Allen and Heath SQ, I suspect that the A&H ME1s will be the deciding factor though, we have two with more coming.
Hi-Fi, I would like an SME V but I can’t justify the cost.

Sounds rather like the VST plugins I use with my DAW.Legacy Built In Every Channel

I haven’t looked beyond the built in features but they do call it a “personal” mixer because of the way it can be customised.slinger wrote: ↑Sat Oct 22, 2022 11:10 pm I like this idea too...

The Wing is a very clever and easy to use mixing desk. Unlike the vast majority of other desks every source can be stereo making it more flexible for use where ultimate requirements aren’t known. You might be surprised just how many inputs you can use for what looks like a simple set up.

Re: Feck me......
Inside the bass drum, outside the bass drum, two for the snare, all of the toms, and then there are the bloody overheads... Cymbals?
Don't get me started on cymbals: Ride, hi-hat(s). splash, crash. ride (what a picture)...

Re: Feck me......
Basically around 1/4 of the available channels just for the drums. Then there's the piano...

Re: Feck me......
I remember the days of slumming it with a couple of Palm's hung on the wall. Maybe the answer is electronic kick drum and toms which would only require one channel. Electronic snare drums and cymbals are just not good enough yet so that would have to stay traditional.
Or get rid of the drums altogether?
