Feck me......

Unread post by karatestu »

.....this forum is wasting away to nothingness. I've seen more life in the local old people's home. I got tired carrying this place and it seems nobody else can be arsed either..

It will only get worse as people will see nothing happens here and stop visiting. I don't look in anywhere near as much as I used to.

Use it or lose it.

Some further attempts to liven up this place.

Yeah, buy some logs. That will save you from the stupidly high energy bills. Look at the cost of these. That crate would last me about a week. Times that by 20. Fecking madness

Is there anybody left in this world that doesn't want to Rob you blind?

My bio-mass heating system runs on wood pellets, a year ago a 15kg sack cost me €5, now it is €15 - that is a Euro for one kilo. Still cheaper than gas, though. And I bought 2 cubic metres of logs for the stove. There is a rush on here as people are installing wood stoves to beat the winter heating costs. But the price of firewood is rising daily.

The costs are starting to get worrying, temperatures are mild, still, but I hope we don't get a cold winter as it can drop to -15C sometimes. And my guests expect to be warm.

Stu, I joined a Hi-Fi forum but, like many another it had become a political forum in terms of the range of posts and I don't do party politics. The constant stresses as the governments move left and right are destructive. I don't want either main party, I want PR where neither Conservative nor Labour will ever again form a majority government. PR please.

I'll happily discuss Hi-Fi and sound but I rarely use mine preferring to play with live sound. There have been some good discussions but I won't join in on a discussion about cables as I have no experience of the exotica. Peter Walker's idea "The closest approach to the original sound" was a great principle but so often we haven't a clue as to what the original sound was. As a drummer you will know that what you hear isn't what the audience hears, whose original sound are we talking about? Ultimately, what an audience hears is isn't what the performers hear. With a symphony what the audience hears from the violins isn't what either the first or second violins are playing. At a rock concert what the audience hears is what the sound man wants them to hear.

OK enough, that's stirred up politics and Hi-Fi, next!

Well, to be fair, the market for hysteria, at quarter past midnight, is probably quite niche.

The forum has a worthwhile value to NVA as an archive and as user generated content with links to the NVA website. Beyond that, it's what we make of it.

I enjoy reading about people's systems and their experiences of comparing different kit, I like bake off and show reports, DIY adventures, thoughts on the industry, discovering music that I didn't know about. I like that there are knowledgeable people here who can help others.

HFS has never had hundreds of active members. It has always been a small place. If you want it to be more engaging, more lively, more whatever.... You don't have to wait for permission.

I do feel that the political content on here has put me off visiting more often than I do.

In my humble opinion, religion and politics are emotive subjects not suited to a specialised forum.

Perhaps this should be the Labour party forum with an NVA sub section ?

And, yet, the thread you have been most active on... Is one about politics.

Quite so Paul.

But I decided it was not something I wanted to continue with, hence my post. ;)

Here's the amazing thing...cue drum roll!

It's not compulsory to post on politics threads. It's not compulsory to read them, it's not even compulsory to open them.

Assuming members post within the very basic rules of the forum, I will never tell you what you can or cannot post about.

At time of writing, 2 out of the last 20 plus threads are about politics.
