Simba Hybrid Pillow

Unread post by slinger »

Has anyone got one, or tried one? I really don't want to spend £90+ on a pillow (that doesn't even come with a pillowcase, but recommends using one) without hearing from users I know are genuine.

I probably could, if I could be arsed.

It's always handy to hear from someone who's actually tried one though, which is why I asked on the off chance someone here had.

I've got to ask, what is it that appeals with this pillow, the height adjustability or the cooling tech. I've slept on a Dunlopillo for most of my life and slept well, but these are longer cheap.

It's mostly for the cooling properties. It may just be advertising hype, but its cooling "technology" seems to be different than the rest of the herd's. Also, though not a deciding factor, it's a British product, which is a bonus.

I'd be tempted to try a pillowcase full of foam cubes first (I think this is something most people could do themselves) as this would give you 90% of the benefit for a fraction of the price.

I personally would try a latex pillow before trying that Simba pillow.

I have these, which I like, and it doesn't get sweaty...but YMMV and I'm no expert.

This thread prompted me to buy a Relyon deep latex pillow off ebay for £74 (£82 with 10% cashback).

My wife said I was cuckoo in the head for paying that much for a pillow.

She's since tried it for a few minutes and is coming round to the idea that it's not a complete pile of overpriced shit.

I was getting tired of the 2 cheapo pillows I had before, where the stuffing would move about and get lumpy.
With this latex pillow, it's one big piece of Talalay latex with air holes, with a zippy cotton cover. So that the filling doesn't move about and get lumpy. There's a fair bit of springiness to it. So that a side-sleeper with broader shoulders than me would probably want a folded towel or two under it for a straight spine.

How this pillow compares to a Simba pillow? I don't know. I've not tried one of them.

I finally got my Simba on Amazon a few days ago (after an attempted scam on eBay) and so far I'm really pleased with it. TBH I thought it was going to be too thick for starters, and I might end up removing some of its innards and keeping them in the neat little bag provided for just that purpose, but it seemed to have "settled" during the night and it's perfect now. I bought it for £88.29, and I already had almost £50 left in my gift card account. I see it's gone back up to £109.00 now.
