Have you seen the movie, bloody good loved it, he became a hero with me to, like Teslaterrybooth wrote:As far as I know, John Harrison tried various solutions to get a pendulum regulated clock working reliably at sea through his H1, H2 and H3 clocks only to be convinced (and win the Longitude prize) by the spring balance regulator which was the basis of H4. So to my mind, Harrison solved his problem by coming at it from a completely new angle.
Apologies, Harrison is a bit of a hero of mine.
Gain in a wire yep cone shape core maybe? The magamp I used in a PSU were for a missile also just a bit bigger and RAD HARD nice kits. Shame we set them to go bang after the hard work we did to get them right.Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote:Colin said - "Class D with saturable magnetics output stage i.e. a magamp design normally used in big S.M.P.S.U. This will mean the output device are just made from wire and not semiconductors thus basically bomb proof, fun eh."
Last seriously used in the German V2 rockets aimed at London?![]()

Blimey you do like playing with odd bollocks. Much easier to create a high current low voltage signal source and use a transformer on its own to exchange the current for voltage, you don't even need to power that, the classic passive bit or wire with voltage gain as in Peter Walkers wet dreams.
Not forgetting of course the fabled H5 , found in a garage in Peckham some years backterrybooth wrote:As far as I know, John Harrison tried various solutions to get a pendulum regulated clock working reliably at sea through his H1, H2 and H3 clocks only to be convinced (and win the Longitude prize) by the spring balance regulator which was the basis of H4. Not the Movie, but read the book and watched various documentaries/drama documentaries on TV. Looks like I'll have to get the Movie!Colin Wonfor wrote:
