My resolution is to resolutely refuse to have anything to do with the news.

Those poor buggers in Cumbria, and Syria, my heart goes out to them, but far too much important stuff like this, is mired in a cesspit of latest consumer spending figures, economic doom and gloom, George Osborne's grinning mug and Call me Dave's poncing around Europe.

Gimme the simple life. I'm not rich, I make just enough to get by,
I don't need the telly or papers non stop telling me how unsatisfied and bad I should be feeling.
