Jimmy Frizzell , Oldham's longest serving manager [ also played for them ] and manager of the team when my dad first took me to see Oldham in 70's as died . He also managed that team currently funded by slavery .

Belgian harmonica playerToots Thielemans has passed away aged 94. Toots was one of the best and most respected harmonica players in the world. He played with Benny Goodman on a European tour in 1950 before moving to the US, where he teamed up with artists such as Charlie Parker, Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra. Later he played on the Midnight Cowboy soundtrack, and played with Ella Fitzgerald, Quincy Jones, Paul Simon, Billy Joel and Michael Jackson among a host of others, but more importantly he played the harmonica solos on the first Sesame Street album.

A mate just emailed me with the sad news that Gilli Smyth (a.k.a. Shakti Yoni) joint founding member of the band Gong has passed away at the age of 83

Heard about this myself last night. What a unique talent - I saw her live for the last time with Gong in about 2008/2009 and remember thinking how wonderful it was that she was still a driving force in such (floating) anarchy. Neither Gilli or Daevid Allen ever aged in spirit. Sad news indeed.

I'm sorry to say that Willy Wonka, Jim (a.k.a. The Waco Kid), Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced "Fronkensteen.") and many more passed away today, aged 83.
