Re: personal anniversary
Five years is considered important because of the significant statistical drop in the chance of reoccurrence and relapse.
No reason why you cant build hifi at 100 doc , you may need to go to Specsavers's before you pick up a soldering iron however .![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon/wink.gif)

Re: personal anniversary
My lot are good, rated at being one of the best groups in the world. You can tell by the amount of Middle East oil money going to them as private patients (Royal Marsden). They run more trials of new treatment than any other UK hospitals and are right at the edge of all the new genetic work going on - I am very lucky to have them.
The whole thing now is a question of luck 1/ you are unlucky to get it 2/ you are lucky if the genetic mutation causing the cancer is one they have pill to suppress (very few so far but growing numbers). 3/ NICE have approved the cost. My one costs a fortune, I could never afford if not on the national health, until they go generic. 4/ the cancer always finds a way around them eventually and mutates to another genetic category, so the rolling of the dice starts again. Are you suitable to any of the new pills. It is Russian Roulette, but without it it would certainly be the first bullet.
So until they discovered my match with the new drug and NICE had just approved it then they had no choice but to warn me I would probably be gone in a year. BUT as time is going on there are more and more rolls of the dice becoming available, it is not a certain death sentence like it used to be.

Re: personal anniversary
that's good to hear - and the big positive is that there's always more investment, more new drugs coming online, better detection rates.
surviving the first diagnosis gives you time, and time gives everyone better odds whatever happens.
Happy Anniversary (sorry forgot in the first post) and looking forward to the next one in 2021 ( in a post-Trump world
