I haven't a clue how the tuning sticks work, but the general effect is to improve on the rendering of micro level detail and particularly on the soundstage. With my computer based audio system, the effect of the USB stick was to enlarge the soundstage, both vertically and horizontally. My Scandynas are out of action at the moment, so a tiny pair of Kef Cresta 1 speakers are currently being used. Even with the Kefs on 20 inch stands, vocals are easily 5 to 6 feet above the ground with other instruments in appropriate places. Bass is tighter too and there's a sense of reduced 'fug'.

A couple of reviews for those interested, although no usb stick as I guess this was a later development. http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/akiko/1.html and also http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue7 ... _audio.htm

Ah! black magic.

Not being sarcastic, if they work then they work. Black magic just means that they shouldn't.

Yes, black magic indeed. But they work and have done on every system I've heard them on. Mind you, a friend who's system consists of Naim / Linn / Audiovector kit didn't like them. He seemed to prefer the soundstage being stuck between the speakers two or three feet off the ground.

Hi I am Chaz and I am a music addict. Live in Glasgow and listten to all sorts of music from Jazz to punk. I was in Glasgow's only ever Goth band in the 80's. Looks like a good forum a good bit removed from the norm. I like that.

Welcome Chaz. "Removed from the norm" is a really polite way of describing us. To the best of my knowledge there are some folk here who were actually forcibly removed though.
