Re: Your last listen
Adam Ben Ezra - Pin Drop.
Some new stuff and some versions of tracks from his first album and life stuff. Extending himself musically, I feel.
[BBvideo 425,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_ipCPW8Nsg[/BBvideo]
Aretha Franklin Live and the Filmore West. Got this one from a list of the 10 best live albums ever. Listening to this I get much more of a feeling of having been at an event. The audience are much more part of the recording (more than you get from this video). I really get the sense over everyone - singer, band and audience - really enjoying themselves.

Re: Your last listen
Thanks for those terrybooth, Adam Ben Ezra was new to me and I enjoyed that a great deal.
Weird to see the audience sitting around wearing headphones btw, it makes me wonder what they would miss from listening to the sound in the room!?

I think I might be in the HiFi trade.
I am not currently seeking treatment for this.

Lunatic Soul - 'Impressions'
Lunatic Soul - Impression I
Mariusz Duda is the singer/bassist of Polish prog-rockers Riverside but there is another side to his musical adventures that he calls Lunatic Soul. On the albums released under this name he explores quieter ambient textures and electronic/acoustic atmospherics.
'Impressions' is almost entirely instrumental and is great for those late evening, lights out, chillout sessions with headphones. Excellent recording with nice sound effects and a bit Pink-Floydish in places.

I've forgotten how to embed these links.
I've been 'getting off the track' a lot lately, so this is my own personal medicine, shared with others who feel likewise -

Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...

Re: Your last listen
Here's an oddity from the mists of obscurity:
Random Hold - 'Burn the Buildings'
Random Hold,Walking on the edge
Championed by Peter Gabriel, first album produced by Peter Hammill, featuring Eno's bass player and Gary Glitter's drummer - Random Hold should have been huge.
Based around the core of David Rhodes (gtr) and Dave Ferguson (keys) they were hotly tipped as a 'next-big-thing' around 1980 but it never quite happened. Rhodes left to become PG's confidante and permanent sideman, Ferguon pushed on with a new lineup and produced a moody but accessible second album 'Burn the Buildings' which was a favourite of mine back then.
The band also had the distinction of releasing 'Dancing in the Streets' as a single on the same day as the Bowie/Jagger version (guess which made the charts!) and when their their third album was due to be launched the record company fired the entire A&R department.
Memories, memories ....
The later work has been collected on the 'Different Views' collection and there is 'The View From Here' which has all their Hammill-produced material. Check 'em out.
