Holidays....yay

Unread post by karatestu »

Has there been a thread on holidays here ? If not here it is. :grin: :grin: :grin: :grin: :guiness; :guiness; :guiness; :guiness;

Just got back from the beautiful island of Jersey. Our first time to this British ruled, slightly French island. Loads of lovely beach, tourist attractions and only an hour flight from Doncaster airport and just over 100 miles from the mainland. Most people speak English although most of the place names are French (it is only 14 miles from France after all). And they drive on the correct side of the road.

The flight in we saw the whole of the island from the air as well as Guernsey, Sark and Alderney as the sky was as clear as a bell. 28 degrees on the first day, 24 on the second (lots of lovely peaches on the beaches) and the rest were a bit mixed. We are in love with the place, definitely going back. In fact i wish i could live there. Already planning the next trip back.

Drove past the birthplace of Nikolai Tesla (Croatia) this afternoon.
Purely by chance, Jean-Michel Jarre was playing on the car stereo - seemed strangely appropriate.

Find a proper (not tourist) tapas bar. Vermouth from the wooden barrel, real stuff.

They do a glorious egg-custard type thing on the Algarve called natas which is wonderful with a coffee.
I think I might be in the HiFi trade.
I am not currently seeking treatment for this.

Wales regularly for us in our log cabin. Many trips to Portmeirion over the years and one of my favourite venues for architecture photography, and of course the setting for probably my all time favourite TV series.
