Hey. I love Zep as much as anyone . My favourite tune is Travellin' riverside blues, just gives me goose bumps all over. Not their song but bloody awesome.
How did they get way with reworking old blues tunes and crediting it to themselves ?

Re: Led Zeppelin
The reworking of old blues tunes went on a lot. They did it better and more effectively than anyone else and had a manager you would not wish to cross.
I love Led Zep, Physical Graffiti is probably my favourite album of all time.

Re: Led Zeppelin
CN, i just knew you loved LZep. Your avatar gave it away.
Back in the day i used to make a lot of my own compilation tapes (remember tapes ) and i used to plan them meticulously even down to using as much of the tape as possible. I knew how long every zep track was down to the second. Same with floyd, sabbath, aerosmith and the doors.

Re: Led Zeppelin
I was just the same with compilation tapes. The 90 minute one of Zep classics was my favourite. Played it a lot in the car, but it did not go down with everyone

Re: Led Zeppelin
For me, Led Zep have some of the best riffs ever written - the guitar line in Kashmir is amazingly powerful for something so simple. If they could only stick to the song and not get lost for 2 (or more) mins in the middle every time, i'd probably be a fan

Re: Led Zeppelin
Unsurpassed in my opinion. Every album great and each different. My favourite track is The Ocean. I have each album re-mastered plus a squad of compilations for work and the car. Love 'em.
Primare CD22. Primare DAB/FM radio. SSP to NVA AP70 and AP10H(JS) with Denon AH-D7100's. LS5 to Cube2's.

"Leaves are falling all around
It's time I was on my way
Thanks to you I'm much obliged
For such a pleasant stay
But now it's time for me to go
The autumn moon lights my way
For now I smell the rain
And with it pain
And it's headed my way
Ah, sometimes I grow so tired
But I know I've got one thing I got to do
Ramble on
And now's the time, the time is now
To sing my song
I'm goin' 'round the world, I got to find my girl
On my way
I've been this way ten years to the day
Ramble on
Gotta find the queen of all my dreams
Got no time for spreadin' roots
The time has come to be gone
And though our health we drank a thousand times
It's time to ramble on"

Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...

Re: Led Zeppelin
I discovered Zep quite late - in the Punk years they were regarded as one of the 'dinosaurs' and their albums, along with Deep Purple, were laughed at and ignored.
When I came to my senses a decade or two later, I found out what I had been missing.
Favourite Zep number 'Dazed and Confused' (any version!)

Re: Led Zeppelin
Another Zep fan here. When I was at school the big debate was always Page, Clapton or Hendrix. (none of them actually, it was always Rory for me ).
My favourite track, The Rover.

Re: Led Zeppelin
I can only take LZ in smallish doses I'm afraid (say an album at a time rather than several). I also tend to prefer their more folky offerings. That said, our place in Wales is only a couple of miles from the cottage where much of LZ 3 & 4 were written. And yes, I've made the pilgrimage to said cottage & photographed it. For those interested, the cottage is called Bron Yr Aur on the outskirts of Machynlleth. It's said that the band would make the weekly trek on foot from the cottage to the Wynnstay Hotel in Mach for a bath as the cottage had no running water.
