I'm not taking the rise honest, but the use of 'holding up' cables from the floor?? I wanted to get some idea as to whether theres anything behind this practice?? I have to admit my speaker cables do in part run on the floor.
If this were an aircraft, a ship or even a car the lower photograph would represent good practice, for wire bundles. However the level of vibration expected in a domestic environment doesn't exactly justify this level of support. Obviously in my examples the wire bundles would be strapped in place.
An installation, as shown, would be illegal in a public place as the raised cables represent a trip hazard. I would imagine that in a domestic setting it represents a very serious hazard to harmony and financial stability as well.
My thoughts on this include one potential benefit..
If it helps to make "er indoors" happy because the cables look nice and neat so cleaning around the hifi is perhaps made the little bit easier? eg if she's happy then he's possibly happy, a win-win situation? But not with his hi-fi of course, as audiophools are never really happy.
