Re: Music we listen to
Dire Straits always tried to copy that extremely cool J.J.Cale style but in my eyes never succeeded.

My list is only a wee % of all I listened to and enjoyed in the past.
Everyone should own a copy of "JJ Cales - Troubadour" album it don't get more laid back than this......Superb.

Re: Music we listen to
Beatles, Stones & whatever one could get on Radio Caroline / Radio London - until the classical bug hit when I was about 14 or so. Big classical influences were Beethoven, Mahler, Vaughan Williams, Prokofiev & Shostakovich. Prog rock & electronica naturally followed from 1973ish, and the fewer vocals the better - with some obvious exceptions.

Sorry I'm not, and never ever have been a Beatles fan.
Can't see all the fuss...... Oasis are far superior......And Wings far better.
But..... Paperback Writer is me favourite track.

I liked the Beatles when I was 10. But now I cannot stand McCantsing. And I really dislike Wings. And Oasis. And whiny vocals. In fact, I'm not really a fan of singing at all, unless it's choral or in a Mahler symphony (or similar).

Re: Music we listen to
Let us not forget that music died in the early 60s following the rock n roll explosion in the mid 50s. The Beatles laid the foundation for what followed with British bands taking rock back to the US.
