Hot on the heels of Ginger Baker I read this morning that a much younger Eddy Van Halen could be on his last legs. Also read that Ozzy Osbourne has had to reshedule already resheseduled tours because of a long recovery from his bedroom fall which agrevated the serious quad bike injuries he sustained in 2003. This also affects the Judas Priest support where Rob Halford seems to lack mobility and Glen Tipton had to quit the band with Parkinsons Disease. Saxon have also had to put back a tour because Biff Byfod needed heart surgery. Many of these issues used to be down to the rock n roll life style, now it is age.
I have a lot of gigs lined up next month and none of the bands can be described as spring chickens, though not all are old. The last band I saw was UFO and Paul Raymond passed on a couple of weeks later when he looked fine on stage. Disapointed about having to miss Alice Cooper this monrh as I am away. Might not have another chance. Glad I have a ticket for what is left of the Who although it cost a lot.

It really is the "last chance saloon" for those of us who are of a "certain" age. Thank Gawd we've got hifi to save some of the memories with.

Re: Old rocker health issues
Hifi is not only preserving the memories, it is also making recordings decades old sound better. This goes for remastering as well, even 16 Bit. Digital has really come of age. As one example, the recent remastered Abbey Road is brilliant.

Re: Old rocker health issues
HiFi is an old man's pastime and one of the few certainties life comes with is that we fall off the end some time. Bit depressing really.
Blusound Vault 2, P50SA, A80's, BMU, TIS, LS7, MA PL200, Meridian 506 (18 bit).

Re: Old rocker health issues
So maybe those old lp's should only be played on tt and cartridges from that era. Come on Jammy, move with the times, if they can be made better with modern technology then why not.Jammy Dodger wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2019 5:34 pmNope don't agree with you one little bit.

Re: Old rocker health issues
But they are not made better Imho Ant, they are made worse...at the very least different, twat sits at the mixing desk and twidles this and that.....like a fukin teenager with a Graphic Equaliser.

I cannot think of one S Wilson remaster we have not liked. Each to his own Jammy.
