Re: Bass
The last minute of 'Don't Give Up' by Peter Gabriel has a wonderful, if short, bass workout by the mighty Tony Levin.
Intro to Vangelis 'Soil Festivities' with massive thunderstorm effects.
You will need a subwoofer to get to hear Laurie Anderson's 'Gravity's Angel' properly with ultra-low frequency rumbles hidden under the track.
For superbly-recorded acoustic contrabass check out 'Beyond the Missouri Sky' from Pat Metheny and Charlie Haden.

Re: Bass
I used to have a slot head Gibson EB3 in my youngers days. This was in my 'I want to be Jack Bruce/Andy Fraser' days. Then I had my 'I want to be Jaco Pastorius' phase (didn't we all!) and bought my fretless Aria SB900. Sold it about 20 years ago in a fit of crass stupidity.

Since I have been using the DH Labs USB and BNC cables I have found that bass extension has taken on a new dimension and what the Cube 1s can deliver. The doom metal I am playing now is really trouser flapping, The Colony Slain by Age Of Taurus.

Re: Bass
Ever since I first learned to play bass at the age of 15 on a dodgy old Precision copy I lusted after a Rickenbacker. Many years later I finally got to own a 4001. It had the most amazing low action and that skinny neck was a joy. It was never going to rupture your kidneys with low bass but it could howl like a wolf with it's plums in a vice and had the most dirty, crunchy bottom end. I vowed never to part with it but after some serious fiscal disobedience I found myself needing money so reluctantly I let it go. I still have real regrets over selling it.

Re: Bass
I am always a little puzzled by tracks to show case bass as i really do not hear that low and so most of the ones that impress me have little deep bass but lots of good mid bass . Perhaps those of you with the system and the hearing can tell me if I am in the right place .

Re: Bass
'Walk across the rooftops' has a rather dry bass guitar sound with a fair bit of reverb. Although there are some deep rumbles in the 'The traffic lights are changing' section.
