With reference to those of you who've mentioned a BMU, I had one on home demo a couple of years back and didn't notice any real difference to be honest.
If your mains is decent in the first place, you won't hear much of a difference. I took mine once to a friend who lived in a tower block, never heard it make such a difference as it did there.
Another good thing with Nick's supply on the Lenco, no mucking about changing speed with the lever and a strobe disc, just flick the switch on the supply.

Yes, speed change would be a convenience, but I'd like to see some sonic benefits for my £895 too, I think.

It most certainly is. If you actually read the posts correctly you'll see the "decent mains" comment is in reference to the use of a BMU, whilst my last comment is in reference to Nick's turntable power supply.
I have not tried it both ways but I would not expect that using Nick's supply on a BMU would yield any improvement given it is in effect a mains regenerator in any case.

Your lenco is not voltage dependant. It's runs of 50 hertz. This doesn't fluctuate even though voltage deos.
For 60 years or so lenco's have run happily without the need for speed control.
Been tying to keep out of this, but yes, the 50Hz does fluctuate, it does so all the time. And IMHO, most of the sonic benefit is down to the low distortion sine wave which the BMU won't provide.
