There will be a significant reduction in the UK's net payments to the EU.

Yes, but I believe that's a drop in the ocean for the UK compared to the additional costs and lost revenues that would result in the event of a no deal Brexit.

Closer to home, half of my clothing business is export to the EU, so that would be decimated by tariffs, and we have calculated that NVA prices will have to rise significantly, just to stand still, due to increased costs of parts that we source from the EU (e.g. Toroidy transformers). Worst case scenario, if the price goes beyond what we can achieve without using dealers then that may be the end of us selling direct. We have modelled several scenarios, as you might expect.

There are always winners and loser with any policy change, though. C'est la guerre.

There would probably be a deal in the end, after the realities of no deal are felt, but that may be too late for a good many otherwise profitable businesses who are already at breaking point due to the pandemic.

According to multiple sources on t'ever reliable source of information, t'internet, the transition has, so far, cost us more than our entire net contribution to the EU since we joined.

You know, these Brexit trade talks must be the first time two parties have gone into a trade negotiation already having a decent free trade agreement and then tried to dismantle as much of it as they possibly can in a given amount of time.

Cheers for that 👍 The organisation behind it publishes a lot of interesting short articles on an array of subjects relating to the UK/EU relationship and whilst it's early days for me I have not yet detected a basis although that might change as I read more of their articles.

The standout takeaway from my perspective in the above link was the dependence UK farming has re migrant workers, circa 30k per annum and the government's post Brexit plan to have a contingency to allow 2.5k per annum, anyone see a flaw in the maths 🙄

Interesting that Farage is now nailing his colours to the “anti-mask / anti-lockdown/ anti-science” populist moron movement.

His morally corrupt opportunistic political tendencies know no bounds. Well, he seems to understand his target market very well...........

The behaviour of Cummings / Bannon / Trump / Farage and Banks (ably funded by Putin) has unleashed all this latent rabid moronic populism that was previously held in check by common decency and laws.....

Come the revolution Farage would be in my first group against the firing squad wall. He would be joined by Trump, Putin & my perpetual hate Rupert Murdoch
