£89 Lidl Turntable

Unread post by savvypaul »

Looks a bit like a Technics. How long before someone offers an upgraded bearing, copper mat and LPSU for it?!

Can’t be bothered to sit through 30 min video on a cheap deck. Review in a nutshell?

Looks better put together than the ProJect I’ve got sat gathering dust in my garage. What a heap of crap that is! I was going to give it to my daughter as her first deck, but couldn’t bring myself to do it.
Got her a NAD533 (rebadged RP2), upgraded it with a new stub end and counterweight, serviced it and popped a fresh stylus on it, and properly set it up... gave her that instead.
Nice deck, unlike that bloody awful ProJect.
Modded Belles A150 MK2, P90SA, & NVA SSP cables, and LS5.
Leak Stereo 20 & First Audio Classic Copper V2
Modded Lenco GL75 with Saturn arm, heavy custom plinth. Nagaoka MP500.
Nottingham Audio Hyperspace + heavy kit, + Origin Live Conqueror + Koetsu Black
Tom Evans Micro Grove MK2 MC phono
Bluesound Node2i (x2) both with latest power upgrades.
Topping D90MQA and Topping D90SE
Audiolab 6000 CDT transport.
All NVA cables

I watched it in the end.

I was right, it’s better built than the Pro Ject.

It’s a bargain for that kind of money.

If they sub-contract Castle Engineering to make it, it will will get a new badge in 2 years time and then become "the best turntable in the world".
