Genesis 'Genesis' (1983)
An overlooked, unloved entry in the Genesis catalogue - their eponymous 1983 album has the band rejected by the old prog fans and still searching for the mass-appeal that the next effort (Invisible Touch) would deliver.
But this LP has its merits, opening with the thunderous blast of 'Mama' and containing the 2-part epic 'Home by the sea', another favourite track of mine is 'Silver Rainbow' which should have been released as a single.

Re: Your last listen
My wife is playing DJ with her phone to JBL charge 5. We are taking it in turns to pick a song. It's a whole lot of fun but I'm not sure I have enough sherry to last the night I quite like my 11 year old son's and 7 year old daughter's choices. I am down with the kids.
FYI, my last choice was Def Leppard - Animal. Get in. The kids love my dancing. Nights like this make life worth living. I am listening to my kids singing along. Beats sat in a listening room on your tod worrying about if you have your cable lifters in the right place

Re: Your last listen
It's a lot of fun watching my kid's taste in music develop. My 11 year old son has a liking for 70's music which is fine by me. Not that I have had any influence there The best decade by far. My daughter loves Ariana Grande which is fine by me, the music is OK but the video's are even better.
Well, when you look this fit who cares about the music

Be Bop Deluxe - Life in the air age
Saw them on the tour in 77. Can't remember much about it as I had a low tolerance to alcahol back then and it was my first experience with weed. Apparantly they were blown off by the Steve Gibbons Band who supported.

John Coltrane 'Africa/Brass' (1961)
Coltrane's first release on Impulse was an adventurous large-scale outing with an impressive and mysterious sound.
Now spinning on retina-destroying orange vinyl.

Efterklang 'The Piramids Concert' (2013)
Having secluded themselves in a deserted mining-town deep within the Arctic circle to record their wonderful 'Piramida' album, the band were invited to perform it live at a Copenhagen arts festival with a complete symphony orchestra and Budgie (Siouxsie & the Banshees) guesting on drums and percussion
This double-lp set is an artwork in itself and the performance is amazing.
LP 1 is in suitably glacial white vinyl.
