The economy has not done well out of me for nearly two years either. Until I was double jabbed I did not go out, not that there was much opportunity with the lockdowns. Felt very down during the second wave lockdown with October and January on my own with my other half in Kenya to see the last of her ailing dad. With no foreign holidays, concerts and pubs I saved a lot of money, more than I spent on hifi. Music played a big part in keeping me sane. Life got back to some sort of normality in May and we had a holiday in September. Stayed in Wales as it was safer with restrictions still in place. Went to England for a 60th birthday bash last month but stayed out doors at the racecourse.
This Covid nightmare is not going away and a balance has to be struck between having a life and staying safe. Will have a Christmas this year, my wife and I being boosted. Will have family around for Christmas from London and Dublin, infections peritting. The get togegther was booked for Lanzarote Easter last year but had to be canceled. Also have the traditional lads Christmas drink up next week. One has Covid but his ten days will be up and he will see how he is feeling.

Here we go again....
The Netherlands is going back into a 'hard' lockdown to slow the spread of Omicron and give our late-started Booster campaign a chance to catch up.

Re: Opinions on how the Government have handled the coronavirus outbreak
Our booster roll out seems to be failing to catch up, also there are too many eeeeediots taken in by the anti vaxx .
I will be adding to the woes of the hospitality sector as next week's Christmas drink up is off. Problems with public transport have a lot to do with it as so many drivers are isolating and evening services are taking the brunt. Considering a virtual Christmas do. The pubs loss will be the supermarket's gain.

He can't win, either way. The bigger issue is that he has lost all moral authority. Compliance with any restrictions that are added, will be patchy at best.

'Hancock was doing a group debriefing.'

I don't know if you've read the report on the garden party, but I saw the Grauniad article, and two things struck me immediately. Here's a quote...
Second quote...
I've seen this repeated elsewhere too, with no explanation offered. I'm possibly missing something.

Isn't it amazing how precise they can be about Hancock's comings and goings, and yet on the nights of those "other" parties they don't even know who was there, let alone what time they arrived, or were decanted into taxis and ministerial cars afterwards? After the press conference, which finished at approximately 5.53 pm, Matt debriefed his own team, then went to the Downing Street garden to debrief the prime minister. He left Downing Street at 6.32 pm and went back to the Department for Health and Social Care.
Second quote...
Hang on, why did she insist on paying silly money to get the apartment at No 11 Downing Street, where she and Johnson supposedly live, redecorated then? Have they got not only separate beds but separate houses now, albeit adjoining ones?Downing Street is the prime minister’s home as well as his workplace. The prime minister’s wife lives in No 10 and therefore also legitimately uses the garden.
