Re: TT Recommendation
Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions; I am grateful to each of you.
This is the package a friend suggested; he has the same: https://www.sevenoakssoundandvision.co. ... table.aspx
The Thorens won't switch between speeds properly, it won't start consistently and the belt frequently comes off. The belt and friction disc that contacts inside the platter are new Thorens replacements.

Re: TT Recommendation
The bike analogy is a good one. In this case your chain keeps falling off, so your chain has worn out (you've replaced your belt), your chainring or cassette has worn out (you need to inspect the rest of the wear surfaces) or your derailleur is misadjusted (check your speed change mechanism). Yup, i used to work in a bike shop as a bike mechanic.
I tried a gyrodeck. It was OK, but not better than my old AR. If i wanted to just buy a fuss free TT i'd be looking a new technics SL1500C (auto return).

Re: TT Recommendation
Im part way through fixing a 124 at the moment that displayed some of those symptoms, yours probably wants a good going over. Those issues are not insurmountable

I honestly wouldn't have the first idea about where to start.
I have been considering sending it to Switzerland for this chap to work some magic: https://www.schopper.ch/index.php?page= ... 35-MKII-en

Re: TT Recommendation
That guy is supposed to be the guy for the 124 and 135, id contact him before throwing the best part of 3 grand at something new
The 124 and 135 arent all that complicated, they do need careful methodical setting up from what ive learned looking at the one im working on

I once had the cash for an Orbe & SME. I sat down at the dealer and it sent me to sleep within 10 minutes.antonio66 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 5:08 pm and yet another suitable table https://pinkfishmedia.net/forum/threads ... ed.265859/
