Afternoon all,
I'm on the lookout for a new hi-fi stand. Currently a metal Sound Organisation 4 shelf rack holds the music boxes. I'd like a four or five tier wooden rack without metal screws. I'm thinking along the lines of what the Doc said about the screws forming unwanted eddy currents or some such thing.
The SO rack in use doesn't seem to harm the sound but as well as a wood rack matching the oak speaker stands I definitely prefer the idea of having no metal joins.
Is there such a rack on the market or would a carpenter be able to fit one together without screws ?

hi-fi stand
NVA amps, speakers, interconnects & speaker cables produce the music.

Re: hi-fi stand
Here's a few photos of a custom sized shelving project I did for my mum. It's much larger than a hi-fi rack, but should give you an idea of what can made from timber and glue. I used 18mm plywood for the shelves.

Re: hi-fi stand
I have had a wooden rack for 45 years. One of those Shriber self assembly jobs which were all the rage at the time. It is big, no metal parts and keeps the A80s and three Sboosters well separated from the source components and P90SA. It is also a good match for the oak speaker stands. Far better than the metal stands which were to gain popularity.
