Magnus Ostrom Group 'A Room for Travellers' (2023)

Magnus Ostrom was the drummer of the Esbjorn Svensson Trio - an act that mixed traditional Jazz-trio aesthetics with a powerful Rock mentality. Now with his own band, Ostrom moves into fusion territory with electric guitar, bass and synthesizers. The result is an album that comes across as a mix between Soft Machine and ECM Records.

A great album for those who like their music to be tastefully ambient.

Engineers (2005)

They started out as a sort of Shoegaze act and then moved into a more experimental/progressive direction. Synth-maestro Ulrich Schnauss was also a member for a while before he joined Tangerine Dream.

Eluvium - '(Whirring Marvels In) Consensus Reality' (2023)

Ambient electronics? Post-Rock? Neo-Classical? The albums of one-man-band Eluvium are often difficult to categorise and here, for the first time, he is working with a full orchestra.

Beauty and atmosphere that sits comfortably alongside contemporary names like Olafur Arnalds, Max Richter and Johann Johannsson.

As you can see, I have the new TEAC deck up and running. Partly distraction, partly comfort as I plan a funeral for next week.

All I can say for now is for a TT that cost so little, it is more than surpassing my expectations.
