Doc how much cable connector metal has to be in contact with terminals for full signal to come through from amp? Is there such a thing as less than 100% signal from cable to speaker? The reason I ask is that as feared I did specify slightly too short LS5, and as such it's not quite long enough really for cable connector to go into top facing hole in terminals. I did connnect them like that initially before the cables were fully routed in room, but there is not enough slack to allow ideal speaker placement. So finally after routing cable around fireplace etc to have correct placement I have had to connect up by putting them into underside hole of terminal having unscrewed the caps.
I could be imagining this as usual but sound seems a bit leaner the latter way compared to the original preferred way. The only difference I can see is that there is a better / snugger connection with more cable connector & terminal metal touching when the connectors are pushed in from the top hole as opposed the way I had to do it (as below). Is there any substance to this, or is it in my head?
