Your 'Desert Island Discs' top ten?
Your 'Desert Island Discs' top ten?
Of course these could end up changing week-by-week but if you were to appear on the film-choice equivalent of the old radio programme, what would your D.I.D Top Ten be?
Mine would probably be:
1. The Lives of Others
2. The Railway Children (the original)
3. Dune
4. Downfall
5. Das Boot
6. American Beauty
7. Blade Runner (the original narrated version)
8. Dr Strangelove
9. Inglourious Basterds
10. The Italian Job (original)

I've tried to make this a simple list of favourites I've enjoyed and have watched, or will watch, more than once rather than choosing a "Citizen Cane" list of worthy cinematic classics.
In no particular order...
Young Frankenstein
Alien
2001: A Space Odyssey
Brazil
Angel Heart
Pan's Labyrinth
The Dish
Event Horizon
Repo Man
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
As you said though, the list would probably change from week to week.

Off the top of my head , films I did love and still love . For I have loved many in the past and no longer do. For instance I loved the shoreshank redemption when it first came out now i think its corny and too long and once upon a time I loved the godfather films and now whilst enjoyable I fail to appreciate their reputation .

Internal sunshine of the spotless mind
Adaptation
Synecdoche New York
Fisher King
Spartacus

Re: Your 'Desert Island Discs' top ten?
jammy , there are 2 films called Crash , 1996 and 2004. One is directed by Mike Figgis and is about the way disparate Los Angels citizens interact with one another during the course of 1 typical day and the other is directed by David Chronoberg is about people shagging each other senseless after crashing their cars , there is even a sex scene with an amputees stump , it is based on J G Ballard's novel .
care to tell us which you had in mind

Warning national stereotype joke :
I Believe you Jammy , because of course scottish people are so parsimonous to find a film in which people not only deliberately crash thier cars but get sexually excited by it , entertaining . They'd be two concerned about the repair costs to enjoy it .
