OK something I don't know (everyone cheer ). What does a lens do on a speaker HF unit. It is not like a horn and I have never seen a good explanation.

Was the lens to focus hf down to the engineer (assuming the speakers were mounted high)? The domestic version of the Quad 63 had 'protective' grilles under the cloth frets which did similar things, 'firing' hf into the carpet and giving them a very thick and dull sound if they weren't lifted up and tilted back slightly.
[edit] Well, looking on the 'Speakerplans' website as well as another JBL PDF, shows that I've fallen into the trap as all 'idiots' do. Never mind, I've learned something new this evening
