The most important differences weren't down to scale of presentation. They were more fundamental than that.

It was about which system had greater clarity. Which system sounded as if the amplifier had greater control over the drivers (or the drivers greater control of the air) and which system sounded as if the drivers were playing the music how they wanted, instead of how the amplifer / source wanted them to.

Which system sounded sharply and finely etched. Which system sounded as if it was playing through 3 inches of cotton wool.

Which system was better at retaining all the fine detail that helps to make it sound as if you're listening to real singers and real musicians playing real instruments right there in your room, instead of sounding like you're listening to an audio system.

Hello Avole.

I didn't want to ask these questions on the What Hi-fi thread, as that would just be thread derailment.

Why do you think Dr Bunsen Honeydew is a scumbag?

And why do you read this forum?

The strange thing is. If Nazis looked like they might take over the government of this country, it's this hi-fi forum that would be the most likely to be the most outspoken about them or take the piss out of them.

Anyway, when it comes to AVI, Avole and I have very similar views. It's nice to have agreement in the context of this thread and the other one on What Hi-fi.

The Hi-Fi subjectivist is a ratbag muddle of sad neo-nazis who wouldn't understand debate if it hit them in the face. It deserves to fade into insignificance, which, thankfully, it is. (A Vole - Last visit).

Au contraire Mr Vole, I can gladly report HFS is slowly going from strength to strength. ;)

Sadly he doesn't like us Jammy. Though obviously he is an avid reader.
