It relies on 2 products of dubious merit. Overpriced streamers and blinged up LP12 upgrades. Both markets could suddenly fold especially the former. People may suddenly realise that the same from Richer Sounds cost a fraction. So a company like Linn could go from healthy profit to loss quite quickly. Also who is to say that accounts are an accurate reflection of trading position especially as it is not stock market listed.

That's the same with any company.

They have a good income and no sign of it disapearing

They are a Ltd company, they have the same legal obligations to report financials as they all do.

People are letting their dislike of Linn influence their interpratation

Well they nearly went bust in 2005/6 so it's possible.

I haven't seen the actual submitted figures, but was going from the industry sources I still have, one of them regularly talking to Linn dealers up and down the country. Apologies if I got it totally wrong...

That's the problem, people prefer gossip over facts.

They are very good at marketing and '5 star' service...and very creative at pricing.

They seem to have a solid hold in the 'luxury lifestyle' market where cost and ultimate sound quality are secondary to image and convenience.

They may have drifted away from the 'enthusiast' market but they have not entirely drifted away from profit...from what I can see in their latest accounts.

They are still at it as far as what is left of hifi magazines is concerned. An article in the What HiFi website yesterday following a tour of the factory. More marketing :Bllocks:

Linn. Higher priced and better engineered version of Bose.

Their website claims: "Unmatched over four decades, the LP12 is still the pinnacle of record player design. A revolutionary icon that’s still evolving." :hbs:

The latest rip offs seem to include a digital Phono stage and power supply for the antique. They are obviously targeting those who have not come to their senses since the brain washing of the 80s. The general consensus seems to be that their recent amps and speakers are crap so they can only plough the old trusted furrow, with gimmicks.

I doubt their amps are big sellers unless combined with streaming. Streamers are the main business with the LP12.
