I thought they were re-release and remastered (not always well on the first press) several years ago, but these seem to be in non jewel-box cases. Including the special series' he did, his CD total is well over 100 and a lot of it seems to be endless studio doodles (he must have spent a bloody fortune on recording tape and getting his tape machines serviced). When he's on form though, his music is enchanting and wonderful..

I still currently get enough of Kraftwerk right now. Even a bootleg of 'Ralf Und Florian' sounds amazing (not sure of the source, but if it's vinyl it's been very sympathetically mastered for digital)
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...

Just got a copy of the 'new' Klaus Schulze album 'Privée'.

Listen here: Klaus Schulze - Privee

Image

Not really a new recording as this disc was originally a part of the 10-CD box 'Contemporary Works' from 2000. But it is the first time this material has been made available on its own.

KS is often stimulated to do his best in collaboration with other artists and this is no exception. On Privée he teams up with a guitarist and drummer to made some pleasantly accessible music. After the short, ambient opening track (The Keyhole) there is a long slow number (Privat) in a sort of psychedelic/dub/spaced-out style that is a bit like The Orb in places. Following on is another longish piece (Privée) that is more up-tempo and is stylistically similar to the 'Transfer Station Blue' album with Michael Shrieve.
The last 2 tracks: 'Private' a 25-minute piece and the short 'Privatissimo' have KS going in relaxed melodic mode with occasional flourishes of space-echo guitar, nice.

Another excellent release for KS fans.

A list of artists I would consider fitting the EM role, or perhaps IDM would be the following

Shpongle
Trentmoler
BT
Red Snapper
Martyn
Pinkskull
Underworld
Leftfield
Chemical Brothers
Fuck Buttons
Atmos
Infected Mushroom
Badmarsh and Shri
Deadmou5

this is not an exhaustive list I will add more later.

But if you haven't heard of them google is your friend :)

Had Underworld's 'Second Toughest in the Infants' on yesterday - a killer of an album.

I would certainly add Royksopp to that list.

Vangelis is one of the Grand Masters of the synthesizer world. Despite this, I have trouble when it comes to a large proportion of his output. Some of his albums like ‘Soil Festivities’ or ‘The City’ are utterly amazing and rank among my favourites, but his film-music scores can be a little too sugary.
It seems that he goes for extremes – ‘Heaven & Hell’ is sheer bombast , ‘Beaubourg’ is total weirdness and one of the strangest albums you will hear from anyone anywhere – right up there with Lou Reed’s ‘Metal Machine Music’. However – to redeem himself, Vangelis Papathanassiou (don’t try that when you’re drunk!) is also capable of creating music of extreme beauty and this album is a case in point.

Image

Mythodea was commissioned by NASA to celebrate the launch of a Mars probe and no expenses were spared to create a huge and impressive spectacle. Watch the film version to get the full Wagnerian scope of the performance done in classical Greek style in a temple setting in Athens. Undoubted stars of the show are the world-renowned operatic stars Jesseye Norman and Kathleen Battle – when they let rip it’s like Heaven has opened and the angels are descending.
Vangelis definitely sets himself here in the service of the music and this modern oratorio is more a work of contemporary classicism than experimental electronics. Really, really impressive stuff.

Watch the full performance here:

Copied from todays Groove Music newsletter:

"Concert Cancellation!!
Klaus Schulze concert cancelled!
Sad news: The concert on 9 June 2016 in Stettin/Szczecin has to be
cancelled because of medical reasons. The state of health will not
improve in the foreseeable future. Klaus Schulze is in constant
medical treatment. (Which is, more or less, the translation from the
medical certificate.)
Sad to see that one of my biggest influences in Electronic Music is
having a hard time!! Hope he will have a full recovery soon!!
My thoughts are with you Klaus." (Ron Boots)

Oh no - not KS !!! :o
