The slow puncture has ready taken effect. Abroad for the first time in three years and after comission the Pound is now worth less than the Euro. :angry-screaming:

Congratulations Boris and the xenophobic retards who fell for the lies.

I don't exchange money - you get a crap rate and pay commission on top.

I use a Starling Bank account card - you get the international Mastercard exchange rate, and there are no fees for using ATMs (assuming you use a 'proper' bank ATM, same as in the UK). When you use your card to pay, you get an instant notification to your phone of what you paid, in both the local currency and GBP. It's also a much better deal than using my 'usual' UK bank account.

When I went to Bulgaria, I spent around £2k - I reckon the Starling card saved me well over £100 in commissions & fees.

Revolut Card is also much the same as Starling - my kids use that one.

We have a Santander acct which is similar. We always pay by card *in euros* and as Paul says we automatically get the Visa exchange rate. (and no fees.)

Yes. Always pay in the local currency. Good point 👍

I had no choice but to use the ATM at the airport to pay for a taxi. I was able to make a purchase in sterling today and the Pound was of higher value than the Euro, but not by much. Holidays used to be a lot cheaper.

As somebody on my Twitter feed remarked, in response to the above article, "Brexit's bad for business? No shit Sherlock".

The article featured on Sky News which mentioned the government testing the water about relaxing Brexit but being scared off by the far right.
