Re: Electronic Music
Almost (but not quite) the new Tangerine Dream album :
Quaeschning & Schnauss - Rain On Dry Concrete
Thorsten Quaeschning and Ulrich Schnauss locked themselves away in a studio filled with vintage synths and sequencers and emerged with the album 'Synthwaves'.
Simply excellent EM - and now for their new TD release 'Quantum Gate'

Re: Electronic Music
I'm trying to open my mind to current TeeDee, but so much of it from the mid 90's onwards comes across as supermarket music to me - easily forgotten. I'm saying this by burying my head back in Phaedra, Rubycon and Ricochet LOUDLY in the car at the moment. Sorry, the new album samples on YouTube has so far brought a yawn - and now Edgar's gone I think they should call it a day and move on.
The Mala Kunia ep was mostly good though and much of Ulrich Schnauss' stuff is good too when he reigns it in

Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...
Re: Electronic Music
Have you tried Ulrich Schnauss/Mark Peters - Underated Silence yet Dave? a real favourite of mine.
Re: Electronic Music
Listening to Leonard Cohen - Popular Problems, purchased at the Indulgence Show after just hearing in demo`ed.

Re: Electronic Music
I haven't heard this album but they are both members of the band 'Engineers' on the (very worthwhile) albums 'In Praise of More' and 'Always Returning'. Shoegaze, ethereal rock.
As for the 'New' TD - it feels like Thorsten and Ulrich are inspired by the early phase of Tangerine Dream when they were primarily an improvisational collective. There is a recent (post-Edgar) live album called 'Particles' which has received promising reviews - I'm trying to get hold of a copy.
I do think that after Chris Franke left and Edgar treated TD as a solo project, that they basically just churned out 'tunes' and his reworkings of the old Virgin-years albums were pretty poor. Although 'Optical Race' with Paul Haslinger has its moments, and 'Transsiberia' with father-and-son team Edgar and Jerome Froese is actually rather good.
