The fact remains if you want to listen to music in the best quality you need stereo speakers amplified. Whilst this remains the case there will be a market.

You just got to find it and interest it.

Simple

The hi-hi industry is its own worst enemy. Every time I see a pic of some Brent Spar rack of gigantic preamps, CD players and streamers, topped by a ridiculously over engineered turntable, flanked by a pair of ten ton mono block amplifiers, connected to 6ft tall, multiple driver speakers, by fire hose cables, sitting on little lifters placed every half metre. I despair.
The bloody speakers look like shite, they loom over the listener like a pair of giant cobras waiting to strike, they are placed at least a metre into the listening room (oh yes, it's always a fecking listening room, never a living room) The whole setup looks menacing and seems designed to intimidate, rather than enjoy music on. And they honestly wonder why nobody but rich old men are buying their over-the-top trinkets? FFS

The smaller the market gets, as the old men die off, the higher the prices become. It's the very opposite of supply and demand economics and is ultimately doomed.

How we reconnect to the people who would once have bought a system, is something I can't begin to figure out.

You've just described my Bozak Symphony speakers to a T, with a certain type of spin put on the description.

A different type of spin would be to describe them as big, cherful, friendly looking things.

Unfortunately the simple fact is that the younger generation just arent interested.
My nephew and niece are in their early 20s and simply dont care. Not just about sq, but music in general. Its not a thing for them.
My kids and friends kids (early teens) dont care either, and to us ( my generation of parents) it was a huge thing. We dont get why they arent, but they arent. Thats not to say there arent a new generation of music loving people, but that the herd is thinner than it once was
Im not sure where the next generation of 'hifi buyers' is going to come from, but they arent going to want what we wanted.
Convenience and connectivity will be everything, looks will be reasonably, important, sound quality will be less important. No hair shirt stuff.
Interestingly, talking to my nephew and his girlfriend, large speakers are fine, and the tt interested them, but the rest they thought was ott. Katie (said gf) quite liked my speaker monstrosities, but was rather disparaging about the number of boxes. The wifes face at that was a picture.....

I don't think they do 'wonder'. I think they know exactly who they are aiming at.
