Re: A new addition to the family
My final pair of purchases. I am now having whatever is the guitar buying equivalent of the "snip" in case I'm tempted again.
The first is a French model and is an amplified classical (nylon strung) guitar and was an eBay bargain - a Lag Tramontane TN66ACE
The final addition to the collection is a Paul Reed Smith SA Angelus Custom, and I actually paid full price for this one, that's how much I wanted it. It's even got my initials on the truss rod cover
It's a standard steel strung acoustic, but it's a thing of beauty.

With that soft string, I'll expect you to have got 'Big Love' down soon.

Re: A new addition to the family
I lasted until March before buying any more guitars. That's not too bad, is it?
A new electro-acoustic, and one I've coveted for a long time, a Vintage Gordon Giltrap Signature VE2000GG. http://www.jhs.co.uk/gordongiltrap.html
I've finally bought myself a Line6 Variax 600 and the associated "workbench" software too. It's a guitar I've wanted to try out for ages and which has internal piezo pickups and modelling firmware that reproduces the sounds of, well, this lot...
...which will hopefully arrive this weekend-ish.
The additional software and interface allows you to connect said guitar to a computer and "model" an infinite number of guitars by selecting the body, pickup(s), positioning of the pickup(s) etc. not to mention set up special tunings ( e.g. for slide guitar). For some reason the missus seems to think I can now sell all of my other guitars. Perhaps I sold the idea of this one to her a bit too well.
I both love and hate eBay, in equal measure.

Re: A new addition to the family
It's an interesting axe, Slinger. I have the Line6 DL4 looper/echo unit which is excellent sounding and well-built.
I've been considering a Roland bass/synth pickup for ages, since I saw Alain Caron (amazing Canadian bassist) using one.
Like the Giltrap acoustic too - you certainly know a tasty guitar when you see one.

Re: A new addition to the family
I've got quite a few bits of Line6 gear - A UX2 interface, Floor Pod, Bass Floor Pod, and a little Spider III practice amp, as well as their Pod Farm software so I'm pretty confident of the quality of the Variax. I love the idea of being able to access special tunings at the touch of a button rather than having to re-tune the entire guitar, especially with the prospect of that 1928 National Tricone setting. I might actually have to get off my arse and start recording stuff again.
Next up a Short Scale Squier Vintage Mod Jaguar Bass...but not just yet.

Re: A new addition to the family
Whilst I envy Guitar player's..........They must surely envy me........
For, to the best of my knowledge I am the only one, that can get a decent tune out of an "Okalorum". !!!
Dont google it..........Cause they dont know what an "Oka" is....
An Okalorum is a single human hair (preferably blonde) tightly strung across a cat's arsehole and played using ones teeth.....Much like a Hebrew Harp...!!!.......Thought to originate in some Scottish costal villages.
Whilst it has been known in legends for the Cat to be alive whilst playing ......THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED......Only a master should attempt this, and with a good plastic surgeon on standby.
PS...Folks if prompted I am willing to open a new thread dedicated to those intrested in the "Okalorum" offering advice and guidance through the selection process and tentative first steps.!!!

Re: A new addition to the family
I'm not sure I want my lips that close to a cat's arse, even if it is dead.
