I see there is someone over at the Graham Slee forum who looks like he is attempting to go the same sort of route.

Well, the Pi has arrived. It's in a box, plugged in and apparently working. Apart from all the keyboards I have being PS2 not USB, no problems yet. I'm going to try putting Volumio on it.

Pi now installed with Volumio. And that's where I'm stuck. I need to mount a NAS drive and the UI doesn't work. Looks like I need to roll my sleeves up and remember my Unix commands.

I hope you've still got your Unix pointy hat. I burnt mine many years ago.

Re: The Most Minimal Computer Music Converter
I now have a Raspberry Pi running IQaudIO dac in a plastic case with (at the moment pi wall wart power supply) and Volumio connected to a little amptastic D class amp at the moment for testing purposes the Pi is connected to my Qnap Nas drive and i have a wireless connection to my network at the moment i may hardwire that later depending on performance.
The connection via the UI in volumio is a little fiddley you have to be precise with the network path if it does not show up green with a tick in the box in the volumio interface then try again you will get the hang of it i failed a few times till i got the hang ofthe ip address for the nas and the player/Pi .
from the first hours listening to it i'm impressed but it is different and im kind of bound to be because it's new pictures later :D

Re: The Most Minimal Computer Music Converter
thought i might add i also give my Pi a static ip and allow it on the network via the mac address i use this method for everything .. you may want to save the ip address of the Pi in your router in Lan connections in this method if you are familiar with this method as if you allow dhcp to control it depending on how many devices you have on your network it may change IP everytime you try to access it in your browser which will cause complications when you try to access the software player in this case Volumio not every system set up is the same but i thought it worth a mention .
