Personally the only independence I think would work is for London and the South East up to Cambridge in the north and Oxford in the west to tell the rest of the country to piss off. Then it would make sense for that bit to leave the EU as we would largely usurp the position held by Switzerland if we did. Now I am not saying that is a good thing just being a realist.
Now you've moved south of Cambridge you think you're one of the elite
No that title applies to people who live in Wrexham

My point is to do with economics and reality. If London and the SE became a separate country its position in the world through financial and political influence would hardly change, and the potential for growth would be far greater as manufacture would be very low apart from in small product size high skill industries like pharmaceuticals.

The other major advantage would be to get rid of Wrexham

I say again I do not want or advocate this, I am talking about what in reality is possible. Any other part of the UK doing it (inc Scotland) would become a lame duck in real terms.

I was against it in '73 when Grocer Heath dropped us in the Common Market, I was against it in the '75 referendum, I've seen nothing in the last 40+ years to make me change my views. I've imbibed large quantities of Port this evening so I'll leave it there.

It came from Portugal before we where con into joining the EU and it will still come if we leave. The original idea was good but as normal the politicians want more control the cost goes up and we are the ones paying for it we should leave I’ve been against it from day one

But if the UK votes to leave, that nice Ms Sturgeon has said she will ask for another referendum on Scottish independence, and then (assuming Scotland votes yes to independence) she'll take Scotland back into the EU!
