I'm a Billy Bragg fan, but I don't class him as a guitarist, Nils Lofgren is American, and as I said, I haven't finished yet, so just because people aren't on the list yet doesn't mean I'm going to be ignoring them.

I should have included Mick Ronson. He was more than a guitarist.

Steve Cropper – Resident guitarist at Stax and key to the Stax sound. Created original and famous licks. Knew when to let go and when to keep it tight. Co-wrote some big soul numbers too.
Carlos Alomar - Bowie’s rhythm man and band leader. Funk & soul guitar across some of the most progressive new sounds of the 70’s.
Lindsay Buckingham - Note perfect to my ears, very original style of finger work (when seen live) A style associated more to fast banjo note picking, rather than guitar but it worked well in helping create the ‘New Fleetwood Mac ‘’ sound (of the day)
Billy Bragg - not a guitarist! Well I suppose not everyone’s book of tricks and licks. Whenever I have seen him live (with one exception) he is 50% voice, 50% guitar = 100% Billy Bragg. Every bit a guitarist for me, in the entertaining sense of the word.
