Re: GENERAL ELECTION JUNE 8TH 2017
By way of balance, Here's a few from Churchill:
“Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.” —Perth, Scotland, 28 May 1948, in Churchill, Europe Unite: Speeches 1947 & 1948 (London: Cassell, 1950), 347.
“The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings. The inherent virtue of Socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.” —House of Commons, 22 October 1945.
"Some people regard private enterprise as a predatory tiger to be shot. Others look on it as a cow they can milk. Not enough people see it as a healthy horse, pulling a sturdy wagon."
My wife and I are not toffs. We manage on very modest occupational pensions and cut our clothes according to our cloth. We both spent most of our careers working in the public sector (health and education). We both have economics degrees. Neither of us will be voting for the Labour Party candidate on June 8th.

Re: GENERAL ELECTION JUNE 8TH 2017
I've said it before. It matters not whom the three of us here vote for today, as Therese Coffey will get in regardless, despite (in my opinion) having a poor track record of not *really* caring for Suffolk Coastal, other than bigging herself up on others' successes. The whole 'Dementia Tax' situation is scandalous and yet they insist on pledging tax cuts we're not asking for and I don't think we can afford! The main party leaders haven't done much to swing my mood either, as May has avoided dealing with the public as much as possible (one outspoken ex-audio personage who's true blue praises her for defaulting to her managed experts rather than fumbling for facts she feels others know better, if you see what I'm trying to say). Corbyn seems to have many vociferous fans 'up North' and I have relatives shamelessly promoting him all over my Facebook page, but all I see is the infamous 'borrowing from the money tree' Labour mentality which has brought us to our knees in debt many times before and now DQ isn't posting here, I can't ask him to elaborate on how all this borrowing isn't really a problem in the long term. The Lib-Dems seem to want us back in Europe (I wonder if they'd have us back now?) and Farron scares me shitless. Our candidate keeps harking on about the Balkans and what he's been doing over there ... We have no UKIP candidate this time, but we do have a Green candidate, but I believe they're further left then Labour these days...
I'm still tempted to vote for our ex-vicar (hippy), as all he wants to do is spread some love around wherever he goes. He's peeing in the wind frankly and I suspect he'll lose his deposit, but I appreciate the loving vibe, man....

Re: GENERAL ELECTION JUNE 8TH 2017
Due to my Dad not realising I was old enough to vote in 1975 and not putting me on the electoral register for that year, I wasn't able to vote in the then referendum and deep down, I haven't forgiven him for it! I have a right as a UK citizen to vote and although I still haven't done so today yet, I shall use it for good or ill!
