That only shows noise not musical damage from high source impedance, or distortion on the wave form, you need a 'scope and distortion analyser for that.

So why waste hundreds or thousands on test gear you don't need when you ears tell you perfectly well if you have a problem.

Fair point, it is an interesting tool though. I borrowed the one I used.

That is the problem with test gear people presume it is telling the truth, well it is in the limited scope of what it does, but it doesn't show you reality.

As a complete subjectivist I use my lug 'oles for testing :)
I have HIfi n' stuff.

There is no substitute for yer own Lug Ole's............If your LO's say its good and someone elses LO's says it aint - then I geuss someone elses Lo's must be defective....

Late to this thread but all interesting stuff. I'm attracted to both the Balance mains transformer and the AG1500. Although I think I'm erring on the side of balance mains first. Thanks Gaz.

To be fair, its not really the kinda thing that gets a little bit more rubbish the longer you leave it, going by the AG500.
It does what it says on the tin, worth having.
