Country music’s first Black superstar Charley Pride has died from Covid complications.

Pride, 86, who was the first Black member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, died in Dallas, Texas on Saturday, his publicist confirmed.

Dolly Parton and a string of celebrities took to Twitter to pay tribute to the musician.

Very sad. A few years back we went to his talk at the Hay Festival and he signed a copy of his latest book for my wife.

I'm sad to report that Leslie West has died. I've known for a couple of days it was touch and go for him, but he finally passed away tonight. COD was given as cardiac arrest.

Sad. Mountain were one of the original outfits whose sound defined and created Rock music.

His solo albums are good too, Fret. I've got three of them.
