For some weird reason (actually, most of my reasoning is quite weird) I have been spending a lot of time with this LP over the last week:
The Thompson Twins 'Set' (1982)
The Twins were here still a six-piece group playing an eclectic brand of post-punk art-rock.
This album spawned their breakthrough hit 'In the Name of Love' and reveals a growing talent for songwriting and (excellent) production.
After firing half the band, the 3 remaining Twins would hit megastar status with the next LP 'Quick Step & Side Kick'.

Wilco - Cruel Country
I went for the Hi res version from quobuz and I'm so pleased I did, this is a really good LP that is also well recorded. My suspicion is that if vinyl is your thing then the black plastic version of this will sound absolutely lush.
Wilco (Tweedy) are a funny bunch, while they've never actually done a bad LP, some of them don't quite cut it with their best. This is one of their very best.
