Sandie Shaw 'Choose Life' (1982)
An oddity this; Sandie Shaw had all but disappeared from view after her heyday in the 60's but at the beginning of the 80's she released a new album in an intriguing 'modern' style, credited as producers are Pete Bardens (Camel) and Brian Johnson (AC/DC). Musicians are not mentioned at all but Nico Ramsden gets a writing credit and there are a couple of tracks with guitar-work that sounds suspiciously like Allan Holdsworth.
A year after this album came out The Smiths knocked on her door, proclaimed their undying, eternal adoration and begged her to record 'Hand in Glove'. The renaissance was complete.

Dalek i 'Compass Kumpas' (1980)
Utterly wondeful slice of quirky New-Wave synthpop from seminal Liverpool-scene outfit. Guitarist Alan Gill went off to play in The Teardrop Explodes and Dave Hughes joined OMD as second keyboardist. Drummer Chris Hughes was in Adam & the Ants and became a successful producer.
Combine these elements, throw in a wacky version of The Kinks 'You Really Got Me' and you have a brilliant and criminally underrated album.
