I well remember that interview with them when they were performing on a mountain with acoustic guitars and having a go at the present music scene - Frankie goes to Banackburn.

They pushed the boundaries. I find that joyful.
I'm guessing that 'beyond dreadful' is a term that they would have been very happy to put on their posters.
For me, they are part of a history of wonderful kitsch artists that includes Salvador Dali, Chuck Berry, John Waters (Pink Flamingos etc), The Residents, (J)Wayne County, B52s, The Cramps, Kid Creole, Damien Hirst and many more, right through to Dirt Box Disco...
