Re: Introduce Yourselves
My journey started out the same way. Now happy with what I have and don't see the need to upgrade any further.
Enjoy your time here among the NVA family.

Re: Introduce Yourselves
Ooops - I forgot to pop in here and say hello . . .
I began my musical explorations after being introduced to Black Sabbath (Wheels of Confusion) from a cassette player as I walked home from school with a pal at age 14. For years I had a copy of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and nothing to play it on.
I acquired a Strathearn turntable (the electro-magnetic 'hovering' model) that I fitted with a VMS 20 just in time for university in 1980 - and on arriving in Manchester I picked up a Pioneer amplifier and a pair of Sennheisser headphones. By this time I had a magnificent collection of about 50 LPs and 200 singles. Then Sevenoaks Audio advertised a pair of JR speakers, and the rabbit hole opened wide enough to swallow me.
Fast forward to 2022, and I grew tired of the intermittent volume pot problems with my (still fine sounding) Axiom Alchemist and decided that I would spend some of my early retirement payout on the NVA starter system to put between the Rega P3/Exact/Fono MM and the Wharfedale Pacific P-120 speakers.
The sound was so good that as soon as I spotted the "Forum Edition" M160s being offered I put in an order, bi-amping the speakers. And at the start of 2023 I added the phono stage and headphone amplifier, with a pair of the Sennheisser HD660S headphones.
Meanwhile, I was still using the Marantz CD63 MkII KI Signature which I bought in the early 90s. It was now sounding thin in comparison to the vinyl chain (in photography terms, it was like comparing a low-contrast enlargement to the actual scene). So I bought a Rega Apollo CD player.
Having totted it all up, over the course of about 8 months I managed to spend around £6.5k to provide a sound that I can happily live with for the rest of my days . . . but the urge to spend probably won't go away.
I just hope I can sort out (and afford) to take it all with me when I head off to SE Asia.
