I read somewhere, it was written for the people of Liverpool as a thankyou for them taking in those that fled the potato famine.

I've never heard that one. I've always believed the far more simple "Wikipedia version" that it was written after Pete St. John, heard a story about a young man from the Athenry area who had been caught stealing corn to feed his family during the Irish famine years, and was deported to Australia.

Indeed you are correct. I was talking out of my hat. But I'm sure there is a story of him the song and maybe not Liverpool but Celtic. Can't find it though and my head is foggy. Cheers.

One of the absolute giants of electronic music, he will be missed by many. I have a huge collection of Tangerine Dream albums, including loads of bootlegs, as well as many of his solo and collaborative albums.

We were only talking about his new album, Arrakis, last month, Fret. I wonder if it was finished. I really hope it was.

Klaus Schulze 'Deus Arrakis' is due for release in June.

New tracks, all recorded during the last couple of years.

Rick Parnell

Best known as the drummer of Spinal Tap who was also in Atomic Rooster in the 70s. I can recall seeing Spinal Tap at an out door event in the 80s.
