The Stranglers were one of the first bands who really influenced me, 'Rattus Norvegicus' was a huge part of my teenage life - as was 'Black and White' later on.

No more heroes.

I know what you mean. It used to be that our 'heroes' would pass due to some form of chemical or mechanical excess, now it's just because we're all old!

Oh well..

They were always seen as the bad boys, and yet not really part of punk. what I liked was that they tried to develop, sometimes successfully, sometimes not so much but at least they tried.

I initially stopped paying attention to them when Hugh left, which was a mistake, post Hugh there are some very good LP's hiding in there, Norfolk Coast and Suite XVI being 2, Acoustic In Bruges is also very good. Jet, Jean & Dave were a remarkably tight core, so much so that singer/guitarists were almost interchangeable like bits of lego. With no disrespect to Cornwell, Ellis or Warne.

I went through a spate of picking up the Post-Cornwell albums and was surprised by their overall quality.

You do hear Jet dialling it back on the later ones as his health started to diminish.

Almost no more Stranglers any more.

Black and White. First album I bought.

Stranglers on their Raven tour was the first gig I went to.
