Anyway hundreds of cables were produced with those plugs none were returned. What has happened is that 4mm sockets vary and the previous owner must have had tight sockets and you have floppy larger sockets, so the spring has been compressed, just ease it out with a pointy thing like a knife.

I think LS5 is doing ok but I have not had time to a/b with my old cables yet and I'm away for a while so I will be doing that on my return
