Indeed - a truly great director.jammy395 wrote:David lynch (RIP) - (Sadly missed)
'Dune' probably ranks in one of my top twenty favourite films - never tire of watching it. A total disaster at the cinema, reckon it was just one of those films which takes too much thinking about for a lot of audiences - they expected a sci-fi Star Wars type flick but got something far more cerebral.

Just a FYI guys - David Lynch is still alive as far as I know.
It's good to know I'm not the only one who enjoyed Dune Gromit.

I write for an expat forum and have seen this film come up a few times and been intrigued by it. Must get to see it.Lazmo wrote:A film called " Holy Motors " i found it to be captivating mind boggling and thought provoking and just damn right strange worthy of a second watch very soon for me ! a great watch in imho check it out .
films I'd recommend:
Donnie Darko - seen it dozens of times and it still intrigues me. No spaceships.
The Revenge of Billy the Kid - not a cowboy and no spaceships...very funny. No spaceships but great goat/human hybrid action
Django - enjoyed it a great deal...No spaceships
Darkstar - Long and funny if you are that way inclined....it's set on a spaceship
Diva - French film noire with a superb soundtrack. One of my fave films. No spaceships.

I saw Holy Motors a couple of weeks ago. Weird film. I quite enjoyed it, but wouldn't rate is as my favourite film nor most memorable film that I've seen in the last 12 months.

Re: Film recommendations.
Definitely worth seeing - "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" - no spaceships of course. It's on BBC4 next Thursday.
No spaceships but lots of robots - "Real Steel."
No spaceships but there is a flying cow - "Rat race."
